From raw score to percentage
Enter the points you earned and the total points available, and the tool divides one by the other and multiplies by 100 to get your percentage. Twenty-two correct out of twenty-five is 88 percent. That percentage is then matched to a letter using a common scale, where 90 and above is an A, 80 to 89 is a B, 70 to 79 a C, and so on down to F.

Scales are not universal
Letter-grade cutoffs vary by country, school and even individual instructor. Some use a straight ten-point scale, others add plus and minus bands, and a few apply a curve or weight assignments differently.
